Up for your consideration is a set of 3 reproduction WW2 M1911 EVANSVILLE-CHRYSLER ORDNANCE PLANT ammunition cartons showing labels from 1942 (20 round), 1943 , and 1944 (Repacked Lot).
Model 1911 ball rounds were first manufactured at Frankford Arsenal starting in August 1911. By 1940 it was apparent that additional amounts of ammunition would be needed should the U.S, enter the war. Evansville was a contractor plant operated by the Chrysler Corporation, and was set up to produce mainly .45 caliber pistol and submachine gun ammunition. First production started during July 1942 making brass-cased ammunition. By October 1942 it had started production of steel-cased rounds as well. Production at Evansville was halted during April 1944 and the plant was converted to rebuilding automotive materiel, as well as repacking ammunition into the newly developed spam cans that had been created there.
Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 3 un-assembled cartons, one early war 20-round with dividers and label, and two 50-round cartons. The 20 round carton label represents a 1942 production lot of early brass-cased rounds. The 50 round cartons represent a 1943 production lot of steel-cased rounds, and a 1944 production lot of steel-cased rounds that were repacked into the new M10 spam cans. The cartons, dividers and labels will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions, and the shipping is free within the U.S. I had a lot of these made, so if you want multiple sets, just change the purchase quantity before you click on the "Buy It Now" button.
