(ATF) OF THE ORIGINAL WWII U.S. ARMY BAG, CANVAS, FIELD, OD, M-1936; BETTER KNOWN AS THE 'MUSETTE' BAG. THE M-1936 BAG, ISSUED TO U.S. TROOPS DURING WWII, CAN BE WORN AS A PACK, ATTACHED TO THE M-1936 SUSPENDERS, OR AS A SHOULDER BAG BY USING THE DETACHABLE CARRY STRAP. ALTHOUGH ISSUED AS A GENERAL PURPOSE (GP), THE BAG WAS DESIGNED AS A REPLACEMENT BAG FOR THE U.S. ARMY PARATROOPERS, WHO USED THEM AS BACKPACKS INSTEAD OF THE MORE CUMBERSOME AND IMPRACTICAL M-1928 HAVERSACK DURING AIRBORNE OPERATIONS.
ALTHOUGH DESIGNED FOR THE PARATROOPERS, IT WAS ALSO POPULAR WITH REGULAR ARMY TROOPS, ESPECIALLY DURING THE LANDINGS ON THE BEACHES OF NORMANDY DURING THE CROSS CHANNEL INVASION OF GERMAN OCCUPIED FRANCE.
THE M-1936 'MUSETTE' BAG HAS A SMALL, 5" X 5" EXTERNAL SIDE POCKET, AND A LARGER, 10" X 12" REAR POCKET; BOTH CAN BE CLOSED USING THE TACK BUTTONS. THE MAIN COMPARTMENT OF THE M-1936 BAG, CANVAS, FIELD, OD, M-1936 IS APPROXIMATELY 11" X 12" X 5" THIS M-1936 'MUSETTE' BAG IS IN EXCELLENT NEW & UNUSED CONDITION, ALTHOUGH THIS IS
ONE OF THE EARLIER MODELS

museums. In addition, we have previously visited All of the Five Landing Beaches along the Normandy coastline and nearly all of the museums in and around the Norman towns on several occasions. We have also spent time,

including during our most recent travel in the Bastogne area, including the Baugnez '44 Museum, site of the Malmedy Massacre, The Bastogne War Museum, The 101st Airborne Museum, the still existing foxholes of the 506th PIR of the 101st Airborne Division and the pastoral surrounding area in Belgium. We have found both the French, Belgian and Nederlander people, especially in and around the Normandy, Bastogne and Arnhem area, to be very friendly and still grateful to the Allies, especially the American forces, for their liberation… despite the huge loss of life and property damage suffered by the French, Belgian and Dutch civilians. In addition, if you are planning to visit the area in and around Normandy, Bastogne, the Netherlands or perhaps in Germany,
we would be willing to share our experiences or trip itinerary with you,
which may
help to make your travel through the areas easier and perhaps make the historical experience more valuable
