To defeat Japan, US power in the Pacific grew to include thousands of warships and 6 full divisions of Marines. After turning the tide at Guadalcanal, the Leathernecks slugged it out with the Japanese island by island on the long, hard road to Tokyo. US Marines of WW2 were equipped with the rugged 7" blade fighting knife that quickly became known simply as the "KA-BAR". Early KA-BARs were issued with a leather scabbard before a less expensive plastic version was introduced. Original USMC WW2 leather KA-BAR scabbards are rare today, so over the last 20 years, some exacting recreations have been introduced. This USMC Marine US WW2 BROWN LEATHER KA-BAR SCABBARD is a high quality MODERN REPRODUCTION. It's in near mint condition, with only some light scattered scratching, darkening, and crazing evident at front and back (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in near mint shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the lustrous brown leather construction. Most interestingly, it boasts blackened metal rivets and brown cotton stitching down the sides, sports a fully functional darkened brass "glove" snap closure brown leather handle retention strap, and carries an elegant brown rawhide leather tie down lace at bottom.
